I began to see advertisements in within the topics of the forum. Is this something new.
I personally prefer no advertisements within the topics of the forum.

We try to delete ads wherever possible. There is a thread in the Lepidoptera section that I am monitoring at the moment. The originator asked about valuing some specimens for sale, rather than actually saying I have x, y and z for sale at $a, b or c. If it moves too far in the wrong direction I will remove it.

There are advertisements from Realtor.com appearing in the topics of the forum.
Oddly, the advertisements are for homes in an area I will be relocating too in a few weeks.
Or, are these Advertisements from the owner of Proboards? If I remember correctly, Proboards has ownership of the site which Insect Net uses/leases?

There was an advertisement at the bottom of this page from Realtor.com. These are the homes I have looked at during my trip to NE Ohio this past Tuesday. I also saw another advertisement with the home I actually purchased!
Does everyone else see these advertisements or are the specifically aimed at Leptraps.
I am offended by the use of these Advertisements.

I am offended by the use of these Advertisements. I thought you meant adverts in the text of the forum posted by members. There are Proboards ads below the menu bars at the top of each page and at the bottom of each page. Almost certainly these Proboards ads are tailored to the user, possibly purely by location (I don't see the same ad you do) or by your computer's browsing history. I see ads for stuff on many different websites I visit related to Google searches I have previously made. Unfortunately the only way to remove the ads placed by Proboards is to pay a $6 per month fee to remove ads from the forum. Presumably this is a charge per registered user, but I am not sure. There is a link to pay below the ads at the bottom of the page. There are also 2 banner ads belonging to the Insectnet forum owner, the first one with links to top eBay insect sales and the lower one showing sponsors of Insectnet. Adam.

You could ask Realtor.com to remove the picture of your new home from their ads, since they have now sold it. I understand that it must be disconcerting to see pictures of your house in a real estate agent's online ad.

You should google more cars, I am shown adds for Mazda 6. The adds are being affected by your browsing history and most likely being tailored to you by data that google collected.
To make the forum add free it is 7$ per month per 50.000 page views (I estimate that we are below, or not much above that limit) . Knowing how much extra money is being invested into the actual forum, I have little hopes to see a change. The forum was a lot more fun when we were able to upload pics directly.

What is not clear to me is whether that charge makes the forum ad free for everyone, or just for the registered user who pays.

To anyone. No single person opens the page 50000 times a month. At least I hope so. That would be nearly 2000 times a day, 100 times per hour, 2 times per minute. Just to illustrate.

It is $8.00 per month per user, I doubt that anyone wants to pay this.

The price varies presumably based on where in the World you are. I see $6 per month, nomihoudai $7 and Paul K $8. I do suspect that this is per person, even though it is a huge amount of clicks as nomihoudai says. Adam.
