Cecropia cocoons are rather heavy. When you find one in the wild, gently sake it. If has weight and "thumps" when you shake it. It is usual viable.
If it "rattles" and/or has a hole in it, it is usually parasited.
I still cannot believe the price: $129.00. I could be a wealthy man if there were enough Lepidopterist with that kind of money. Unfortunately, most of us are a poor lot.

Did you look around Confederation Basin and north and east of the bridge and near the fort? Also Gan and a Brockville? Maybe more inland as well. Probably stay off The Shield where exposed since that tends to be dry scrub and austere. Hi Chuck Iβm in Toronto(Mississauga), Eury lives in Kingston. Too far for me to go search there. Did you check the former site of Canadian Arsenals Limited? Where the water tower is? Also, the Toronto waterfront (old York) is protected and ideal for Cecropia.

Also, the Toronto waterfront (old York) is protected and ideal for Cecropia. I searched in most of Mississauga waterfront parks and I found one live cocoon there. As the weather turned frigid I donβt really feel like to go outside now.

Last time I looked, the going rate for a cecropia cocoon was about $6. Why would anyone pay $130? Have cecropias suddenly become rare, or is this just a typical ebay ripoff? You can list a Pieris rapae on eBay at $500... it doesn't mean that Pieris rapae will worth that price. This is just a clueless seller.

Wouldn't it be rather funny if someone actually bought it? All jokes aside, there are clueless sellers, but also clueless buyers!

I have never purchased specimens, I have however purchased Cocoons and pupae.
I have been given specimens and I have given specimens. I guess I have that I would rather collect my own specimens attitude.
As for being clueless, Horny women. Not a clue.I had a Sister-in-Law who was married seven times to five different men, had ten children by eight different men, some of whom she was not married to. Mass confusion was fathers day at Swilla Fay's house.
