Well, throughout this forum I've seen many collectors of all sorts. But, I wonder what else do they do? What is behind the collector? I'm pretty sure you guys are just as curious as I am. So, come on fellow collectors! Show your other selves! As for me, besides being an insect collector, I'm also a guitar collector as well as a guitar technician. In the Old Forum, I had a similar piece. I've played guitar since 1969. I write, record my own songs. Used to play in bands, but they never stayed together for very long; that was in the '80's. Just go there and you'll find a list of my equipment, although I've added a PRS SE Custom 24, and an Ibanez Art 100 to my group of guitars. They are both very good guitars. I've used them on a number of recordings, lately. Eventually, I'm going to put everything on i-tunes, once I've copyrighted more of my songs, and have a safe-guard that way.

Hello Caleb. I don't have a musical bone in my body but I used to attend every rock concert I could back in the Seventies and early Eighties. I still like the "classical" rock but don't listen to music much anymore. I have always collected this or that for as long as I can remember. Collecting Indian artifacts has been a favorite hobby of mine for many years but it seems they are nearly non-existant here in N.C. as compared to where I used to live (Ky). On the other hand we have some great beetles here! It's always good to have younger people become interested in insects. Welcome to the site!

Hi Darrell, Just curious...ever collect extinct fossil Megalodon shark teeth from the Carolinas? I gather they are found in good numbers in certain riverbeds (scuba required to obtain & dangerous conditions) & weathering out of the banks along the seashore in those states (also in Florida at similar sites). Huge interest & money involved by many serious collectors for top quality big specimens...I would be looking if I lived down there... at least when nice bugs aren't flying or hurricanes aren't howling! Hi John. I've never collected the Megaladon teeth. I've never lived on a coastal area or been to one where I might find them. I've seen pics of them, and they are awesome. Maybe if one was diligent and explored some of the local creek and river beds and borders some may turn up? They're fairly valuable, if I'm thinking right. We used to see some odd fossiled bone pieces occasionally back in Ky but never collected any. I wish we had now. There is a notable tarpit not far from my old hometown. It's called Big Bone State Park, I believe, and they had a respectable museum of some extinct big mammals, including the Wooly, and probably have some large reptile remains as well. It was a good many years since I was there.

I also do a little shell collecting. For a while I was in a rock club and collected rocks to cut into slabs and make cabochons to put in to Jewry to sell. The most famous rock I found was Poppy Jasper at an old mine in Morgan Hill, CA that is now part of an undeveloped park who's name was changed. Basically Morgan Hill gov. dos not want you to know about it. I make butterfly note cards and paint photo realistic paintings of birds, pets, wildlife to sell.

Yes everyone one else almost surely has other intersts beside insects
I`m a keen/mad fisherman when I`m not collecting insects fo myself or to sell to people on insect net or around the world .
But I do know one fanatic who you can`t even get a word to unless its insects fanatical.

There are enough pics of me posted, so I will save all your eyes and prevent headaches by not putting up another.
Besides insects, I love to fish muskies, do koi-ponding, wood carving, and play chess. Snorkeling, camping, and gardening are enjoyed by me as well.
Now...for music....I'm afraid I'm the odd guy once again, for I've played violin/fiddle for decades. I play at weddings, compete once-in-a-while, and do the bluegrass and classical end of the spectrum. I also repair/rebuild violins and teach lessons. Those guitars in the pic are cool, but I really like the classical guitar sounds the most. I'm not much into the rock scene.

Though most of my guitars are electrics, I do own a couple of classicals, too. I also hope on learning bluegrass banjo soon. I want to be one of the very few banjoists in Malaysia. Besides insects, I also play a fair quantity of video games, read, and am currently the President of the Biology Club at Palm Beach State College (which I also founded, not an easy thing to do). At the moment that's about all I have going on.
