I am always fascinated how some English localities such as Wicken Fen in England, became so famous for visiting collectors because of the rarities to be found there that it produced a thriving industry in Entomology. Nearly every British collector of note from Charles Darwin to Edward Alfred Cockayne went to Wicken. The late 19th century image here shows the Wicken professional Albert Houghton with a client. This image and one other taken at Wicken are the earliest known examples that show a collector and his light for attracting nocturnal moths.
