On the way back from AZ the airport decided to throw my luggage around the terminal a bit and managed to destroy the tubes for both of my DC blacklights. I cleaned up the mess but have both endcaps with gray wires running into them attached to the wiring for the ballast, and a thin wire between them that used to run along the bulb.
If I buy the replacement bulbs from Bioquip, I assume there is a way I can attach the new bulb to the old and expensive ballast setup. Are there instructions sent with the new bulb? I assumed I could detach the caps and plug the new bulb in like a regular household flouresecent tube, but that doesn't seem likely given the attachment points.
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your lights. You don't have to buy a replacement bulb from Bioquip, you just need a new F15T8/BL tube which are $5-10. It's really easy to replace the bulb. Just slide the new tube down the blue sleeve with the wires and connect them to the pins at the end.

I assume the red caps just swap on easily on any brand bulb of that specification? It looks like the wires are attached but I guess they twist off the terminals?

There is no set ends. They are both equal. Simply connect the wires to each end with the plastic tubes. These are 3/32" tubes which slide over the wire and bulb studs. Re-install the red caps and the mesh bulb protector.
Next time buy a real collecting light, 40 Watt QBL 368NM bulb 12VDC or 12VAC.
