Here are two Nicrophorus I found this year. The first I believe to be N. orbicollis, the second I don't know. Both from Whitley County, Indiana this year. first from light, second in carrion trap.  |

I believe they are both Nicrophorus orbicollis. To double-check, look to see if they both have scattered, short, erect setae on the elytra. The setae are often abraded away on the discal surface from the beetle burrowing, but they are usually still present on the ends and sides of the elytra on a rubbed specimen. If the setae are there, that combined with the straight hind tibiae and orange antennal club with nail them down as orbicollis.
