Since finding an awesome spot for these lovely spring beauties, I managed to come across some food plant, Dudleya cymosa with eggs on some steep rock walls with seeps. The food plant was very common in one particular spot, so I got a couple of them and now, this is showing fruition.

Looks good. I hope you have enough host plants. You need 1 adult plant per caterpillar. Have they pupated already? Btw, the host plant does not die even when all the leafs have been eaten. A new plant will sprout from the roots. The pupae will turn very ugly brown and black before they hatch, so don't think that they have died off next year.

I managed to get them through maturity and lost 3. One I crushed on accident while locating the pupae, which I have eight of. One didn't pupate right, and one smaller caterpillar shriveled up and dried out.

You can harvest leaves from plants every five days or so and rear them in the cut leaves.

I let them do their thing and they all made it minus a smaller one I didn't find till later, and one who was about to pupate, but had complications, and one I accidentially crushed.

Found some more this year. Got the plants again, pretty common, and the blues seemed to have started their flight, though a bit later as it's been cold and rainy in California. Here are some of the specimens, along from a malformed one I kept.

I saved you a couple as I was only in their area for an hour or so, but am planning to head out before I go on a week vacation to So cal in april.
