Gave a presentation yesterday for some colleagues, and afterward, the bright idea to "spread the passion" came into my head. After a little prodding I had their interest. On to Google images we went. Time was short and I saw a few lazy eyes, so of course I had to come out of the gate with a haymaker. For good measure, I told the tale of a rare and mysterious golden butterfly which was the envy of many a collector, guarded by gorillas and poisonous snakes at every turn, thought to be the reincarnation of a powerful and ancient shaman-the stuff of legends. Anyways, to make a long story short, autocorrect stepped in and produced the most horrific display of images I have ever seen...what a way to discover Fournier's gangrene! It was a fail of the most epic proportions. You guys have any funny stories of latin names getting you in trouble? How about humorous names in general?
***I don't suggest investigating Fournier's gangrene!!!

Meh, I've seen Fournier's - there are much more disturbing medical conditions. So, what was the latin name that auto-correct mistook for Fournier's?

I was at a conference yesterday and lawyer from a large firm announced they had changed the name, dropping Hiscock because their email wasn't getting through spam filters.

You must have a strong stomach Eurytides, but I'm sure there are worse things out there (puke)I think some of the parasites would be worse! If I ever got Guinea worm I would be put in an induced coma for the duration. The species was C. fournierae, or Charaxes midae in my world  Maybe Hiscock was trying to access the wrong port  If I remember right, weren't they considering a partnership with Hermuff? |

Parasites are for sure disgusting. If you dare, google "ascariasis." Mmm delicious, you wouldn't happen to have any ascariasis eggs for sale? Talk about a foolproof diet! I believe there was a scam where a business was actually putting pieces of tapeworm in tablets and selling them as a weight loss solution  I wonder if there is a forum dedicated to parasites of the world...I actually saw a page about saving the Guinea worm because of the recent efforts to eradicate it, but didn't research if it was a real. |

Unfortunately, it wasn't a scam. It was real, and real people did eat the tapeworm eggs and lost weight. After you reach your desired weight, you then take medication to kill the worms. Unfortunately, this was temporary because without the worms sucking up the nutrients, usually people gained the weight back. You need to always have the worms in order to maintain the decreased weight.

This was an Italian one not French.
Check out the flag on its shoulder pad: red white green.
The US flag should then be red and white strips with stars on green... Or did the Amerlocs lied to us and never went to the moon?
