Ciao
Lycaena thersamon is said to be present in Lombardia in some colonies according to my books. I have made extensive research on the web and didn't find any locality. Can anyone share with me a precise locality in Lombardia or not too far from Milano ? Otherwise it will be nearly impossible to find.
I want to make some live pictures of it (and of L. dispar which is more common in Lombardia)
Thanks

From the book : Roberto Villa, Marco Pellecchia & Giovanni Battista Pesce, Farfalle d'Italia : page 139 : Lycaena thersamon Esper, 1784 : "tutta Italia ad escluzione delle isole. Distribuzione in Emilia-Romagna : PR, RE, MO, RA, FC, RN. Habitat : prati et pendici scoperte del piano basale sino a circa 700 metri slm". On the other hand, the website (for iPad and iPhone) Butterflynder gives a distribution map for L. thersamon a little bit different : East of Liguria, extreme south of ER, whole Toscana (except high elevations), Latium, Central Italy (except high elevations), Ancona and Napoli areas ; not present in the south and the Padane valley. 0 to 700 m. Flight period : April and May, July and Anugust. So seems to be absent of Lombardia ! Nearest area : south of Parma. Here a picture of the Pass (Passo del Cirone) which is border between Toscana and RE : according Butterflynder the lep flies in this valley under 700 m asl. I was there in June (not the right moment for thersamon) to photography mnemosyne and various erebia : none mnemosyne seen but many erebia ! (and many other species). Very interesting valley to buy Prosciutto di Parma and funghi porcini ! Hoping it will help ! jmg

Grazie JM, I also have this book "Farfalle d'Italia" (which is a bit useless by the way) but there is no precise locality given. Extreme South of Emilia and East of Liguria are a bit too far from home...
Hope a specialist of Italian Lycaenids will read this post.
