Is there a book (or books) that tell the authors of all butterfly species and subspecies and the years they were named, and any name changes that have occurred through the years?
Some books do have the author but not always the year. I like to put this information on specimen labels and it often is hard to find it. If there isn't a book that's been published is there perhaps some websites? I do find many of them various places online, but some I don't find at all. Right now I'm searching for Morpho achilleana violacea.

Yes, Bridges is one of the best sources but incomplete and hard to find. You really need to search in various books on each group. The one you asked about is Morpho helenor violaceus Fruhstorfer, 1912. Note the spelling and the current thinking on the species name.

Putting all synonyms ? I hope you never collect anything European ;D I once made a synomity list for the genus Euthrix, 1/4 of the 200 taxa where just synonyms of Euthrix potatioria, the only European species of the genus...or imagine you got a P.apollo, you have to put a book next to your label with alle the synonyms

The Zoological Record is also important : it started in 1864 and list all the publications that contains descriptions. All zoological orders were concerned, but part XIII was dealing with Insecta...
