Dear All,
I had very good collecting trip in Peru, Iquitos, organized by Carlos Saveedra entomotrips@yahoo.es . I just saw his ad in classifieds and I decided to recommend his services. I was there collecting for two weeks on November 2013. I have made a lot of collecting trips around the world and I can say this was one of the best organized trips I'we been. These guys are very friendly, helpful and professional. The collecting areas are fantastic there.
best regards, Teemu Klemetti from Finland teemu.klemetti@gmail.com

Here are few pics. In this first picture my colleaque Mr. Janne Jokinen collects in Picuro Yaco. Here we found for example: Morpho cisseis, M. hecuba, M. adonis, M. eugenia, M. menelaus, M. helenor, M. rhetenor, some Battus and various Parides sp, Papilio zagreus, P. torquatus, Agrias claudina, A. beata, Preponas etc... In the second picture I pose with Loxolomia johnsoni female that just came to light in Itaya river. It was a bit rainy night. Attachment DeletedThird picture is an example of bait trap. We got especially good catch with traps in Itaya River. We learned a lot about trapping from our guides. Attachment DeletedFourth picture is taken from small river boat somewhere in Itaya river on the way to our campsite. best regards, Teemu

Hi Teemu,
Thanks for sharing your comments and pictures regarding collecting in the Iquitos region. I'm considering going there in July--do you think that would be a good season for the species you encountered (the Morpho species, Prepona, Agrias, Saturniids like L. johnsoni, etc.)?
I appreciate any advice you can provide,
Jeff
