Thanks for the "heads up" Dunc...I just watched (and quite enjoyed) the programme which I would have missed if you hadn't posted. I won't spoil it for Rich as he hasn't seen it yet...but...LOVE THE FROGS!!! Simon

Going to try and get it put on a disc, great documentary, got to laugh at Martin White, establishing rare butterflies in places where they would spread to if they just could get there but butterfly conservation hate him because he doesn't ask their "permission" to do so. Don't know what it is about Matthew Oakes though, I always find him a bit of a tool.

Hmm, I know (or knew) a number of folk in the program. Some lovely photography in there anyway.

One of the personalities in the programme, always on T.V., Matthew Oates. Here he is checking on a population of Hamearis lucina in the Cotswolds, a species that he helped save. A strange man who likes to talk a lot on telly but not in the field, perhaps he just wants his quiet moments, don't we all. This British eccentric likes to wear a different colour ribbon in his hat when looking for a particular species. After all Britain did produce the first butterfly collectors, a very British obsession that helped enrich the lives of many. Peter.
