Even though some of have been collecting for many years the subject of entomology is so vast that there is always something new to aim for, what is the one specimen that you want to add to your collection next year that you want more than any other, for me it may be a long coveted Jamaican swallowtail or failing that iphiclides podalirinus. Also early in 2013 I am visiting a friend who is a fellow of the royal entomological society who has his own "Aladdins cave" of specimens, so hoping to find something special in there. On self caught specimens I am hoping to locate a colony of strymondia w album that lives in the woods at the back of my house, I have seen a few so I know that they are there but none for 2 years.
What about you, what do you dream of adding next year.
happy new year.

Realistically, I would like to get a few more machaon subspecies, I currently have ssp. kamchadalus (Russia, with good data), syraicus (from Samos), hispanicus, gorganus and a ssp. from Tibet. Also, I would like to get more Zerynthia rumina ssp.
Non-realistically, I would like to get a rare Jamaican swallotail as well as P. machaon lakdensis.

I'd love to go back to Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona and collect more Cerambycidae and other beetles, next summer. Jeff Prill

Realistically, I'd love to catch some Karner Blues or a female Regal Fritillary. Unrealistically, there is a ton of stuff I'd like to get when I go to Borneo!

I'd love to get Noreppa priene and Prepona deiphile at a reasonable price - the only two full species missing from my Prepona collection.

Mantisboy - be warned that the Karner Blue is a federally endangered butterfly! Getting caught with one is a guaranteed arrest and huge fines. All of the localities this butterfly are under pretty decent protection, pop a net out and someone will notice. Don't risk collecting it! And depending on your state the regal frit. may also be illegal to collect. It is certainly protected in Illinois as state endangered. In Indiana it is state threatened which I do believe also provides it legal protection. Be careful collecting!
