yeah, thanks.
Having second thoughts on the Hexarthrius though as it looks very much like paradoxus from sumatra and not like my other specimens from Borneo. It did come from what I regarded as a reliable source though.

Actually I'm not sure now that I've had a closer look, it could very well be elongatus...

If it's bigger than 84mm than I would question about it. It's 80mm. Paradoxus has a downward facing tooth on the underside, near the base of the mandible. Even specimens under 80 have it. Whereas elongatus has only a hint of it, it's not much I know, but it seems to be a consistent character...

I have a easier way to tell them apart, elongatus has reddish colour legs and paradoxus has blackish legs. Here is a elongatus I got when I was in Sabah. I think yours has black legs. ;D Attachments:
