I am making a trip from Oakland and Tulare CA later this week, to Tulare early in the morning and back to Oakland after dark. I was wondering if anyone knew of any "magic gas stations" between those two points, the ones that have a high amount of insects attracted to them due to their unusually remote location, or proximity to good natural habitat.
I know the moon is over half full (not sure if waxing or waning) but I thought I would give it a shot anyway, if anyone has any knowledge of a good spot to stop. I don't have many beetles from California in any case, so really any place that people have seen stuff at between those two points would be great.
Thanks!

See the "Belizon Police Checkpoint" (and Saturniidae moths) at the end of this video : Video made during the ALF (Lepidopterists of France Association) journey in Guyane (November 2011). Others videos about the same entomological sojurn : 1. Camp Caiman and Camp Patawa (Kaw Mountain)2. Amazone Nature Lodge and Marais de Kaw In this film, you can see me collecting a Caligo. 3. Village de Saut Athanase - Regina - Belizon police checkpoint 4. Crique la Comte and Auberge des Orpailleurs Attachments:

not to hijack the thread, but I'm an east coast guy and I was wondering if there were any of these magic spots along 95 or 81 on the east coast?
