Nyctalemon macleayi kotzenbergi female(not 100%sure about the ID) from Halmahera a group I like at the moment much and am trying to find out the correct names are the nightflying Uraniidae (Nyctalemon) Found in the net a good work about them: A revision of the genus Nyctalemon Dalman (Lepidoptera,Uranidae) with notes on the Biology,Distribution,and Evolution of its species by C.O.Regteren Altena. I always knew these as genus Lyssa, but then I'm not a moth man. They are listed under Lyssa in the Checklist of Insects and Mites in Thailand (Hutacherern et al. 2007), with two species included, L. zampa and L. menoetius.

Remember seeing some during our night collecting in Pass Valley, Papua. Impressive beauties !

I couldnt find how old the revision is made by C. O. V A N R E G T E R E N A L T E N A (Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden) www.repository.naturalis.nl/document/149100 - but it seems an old paper. you still find Nyctalemon and Lyssa used from several people ,but what is realy the correct name.....? Nyctalemon patroclus (PNG,New Ireland) flies together with Nyctalemon toxopeusi on this island. All this species can have the white band on the forewings almost absent(f.fletcheri). Robert Attachments:

I have 3 of these Nyctalemon species, but not sure of the species ID. One looks like mutatus.
I'll post some pictures and maybe we can clear it up.

Top one is from Florida Island, Solomons. It was sold as Nyctalemon patroclus. Bottom one is from Borneo. This one is from Vietnam. Bradleigh Attachments:

after the papers I have ,on Solomon(+Bougainville) you find only mutatus Robert

This sample is from Sepilok in Sabah (North Borneo). Is Lyssa menoetius HOPFFER, 1856 the right ID ? Wingspan : 11 cm Many thanks ! Attachments:
