You have been busy the last days Dunc Lovely specimen, machaon x maackii sounds like a weird combination to me.

yes Claude it is, there is also a xuthus/maackii hybrid knocking about too which looks even more weird.

Wow, neat. Something very nice about the more subtle coloring. Was it difficult to produce?

I did'nt breed it unfortunatly, it came from Felix at interinsects, I want a xuthus/maackii hybrid next, for some strange reason all these hybrids produce males. somebody more intelligent than me can explain why.

Interspecific hybrids often only produce males, particularly between less closely related species such as these, and they are usually sterile. It's a product of the genetic incompatibility of the two parents.
