Has anyone ordered from www.sciencelabsupplies.com/ ? Are they reputable? I'm on leave from my university until this spring and I'm in need of more pins, more specimen boxes, some pinning forceps, and another pinning/spreading board. I've found this site that sells everything but I'm always cautious about who my credit card info goes to. If not, where can I buy entomology supplies online? Any help appreciated.

I can recommend these people: www.watdon.co.uk/the-naturalists/I have been using them since the 1960's and have never had a problem with them. They sell absolutely everything you want. Dave

Their entomology supplies don't look very impressive, the nets look like you would get one or two decent swings out of them before they break in some way. BioQuip seems to the US supplier of choice- I find them to be tedious and very slow but most everyone likes them apparently and uses them anyway. Perhaps I just have consistently bad luck with them. They do have good products and better prices for quality supplies than everyone else here in the US that I have seen so far and I have been shopping around recently.

ASSuming you are in USA, BioQuip is about the only game in town, considering the array and quality of their supplies. Even a big name like them can have security issues regarding credit cards. Approx 18 months ago I got a letter from them stating their databases had been hacked and information regarding personal info of customers including credit card info had been stolen.
For all the items in your list but the pins you can make your own completely functional alternatives for MUCH less money.
You're on leave until SPRING? I need to sign up for that program... how does that happen?

Dave They have some really cool gear. The "Kite" nets, and the aluminum pinning stage look top drawer. Shipping to USA might be a little prohibitive. Then again, $21 US for a pinning block is prohibitive in itself....

I can recommend the Kite Nets, I have been using one for over 30 years and it is still going strong, much more than 'one or two decent swings'. They do ship worldwide, ask how much it costs, it may not be as prohibitive as you think. Remember most of the stuff is quite small and the nets fold up into smaller packages.

You can also try NASCO. It is a science supply store out of Fort Atkinson, WI. They do not have anywhere the selection as Bioquip, but they do have some decent entomological supplies such as nets, pins, & some display cases. I don't have the website handy. A google search should easily find it.

I wanted to get some more basic science courses out of the way before going back full time.
