This was shown here on Monday, and I taped it because I wanted to watch the final episode of House MD.
I haven't had time yet to watch the entire thing but there was lots of subtitles and it didn't seem like they were telling a lot about the beetles themselves. I did notice a nice shot of a living Idea butterfly. I intend to give it a closer look real soon.

I found the DVD on eBay & bought it. It's mostly about the cultural differences between East & West when it comes to insects. Japanese children are introduced to insects at a very early age, which I'm sure influences them throughout their lives. They followed one beetle dealer driving a Ferrari, which he explains he bought selling beetles! The film is more of an overview & not a scientific documentary.

PS - My wife & I enjoy House as well! Someone that I know who is an operating room nurse said that this series is the most accurate of any of the doctor/hospital shows on TV.

I agree it wasn't entirely scientific. I was hoping they'd tell more about the beetles and how the trade and rearing actually worked, and how it compared to what other countries are doing in that regard. I was hoping for some mention of really rare species like P. muelleri which was virtually unabtainable to collectors until the Japanese started rearing it. But it was still interesting. I liked seeing some of those big dynastids actually alive.
I'm not as big a fan of House now as I was in the first 2 seasons. I still like it but I liked it even better when the emphasis was on the medical anomalies rather than who's sleeping with who. This time I mainly tuned in because it was the season finale and because Shohreh Aghdashloo was in it. Since seeing her on 24 I always try to see everything she appears in.
