> only this butterfly and Nymphalis antiopia have this color pattern. Can I correct you on this Lord P ? ;D I have been reading a book and someone mentioned a butterfly called "Afghanian Mourning Cloak" Here it is on rusinsects.com Hipparchia parisatis: rusinsects.com/satyrid/s-hi-par.htm

I've caught H. parisatis in Turkey and although being a Satyrid the flight is completely different, the colour and pattern do look like N. antiopa. It's a fantastic bug and looks huge in flight.
