Does anyone else remember the Phymateus saxosus that were on the market years ago? I can't remember exactly but perhaps 15 (maybe 20) years ago, they were considerably nicer than what is being offered today. They were much larger, the colors were more vivid, and the pronotal formations were a lot more extreme and brighter red. This was not related to preservation quality. Nothing on the market today even comes close. I have no idea if they were a different subspecies or simply from a different region in Madagascar. I also do not have any remaining specimens so unfortunately no data. It is of course highly possible that their range has now been wiped out. I just wondered if anyone else remembers them or could possibly have old stock.
