Here I have a picture of a natural "mini" Monarch
which was wild collected on Sept.16.2003
A fellow collector whom I met some years ago
caught it near his home in northern Illinois.
When I was viewing his collection its diminutive
size struck me so, I asked would he ever trade it.
Well, in time we did some trades and this was one
of them...
As you can see it measures 70mm (wingtip to wingtip).
Measuring from the base of the forewing to the
wingtip it is all of 42mm
It is perfectly formed and was fully capable of flight
and an otherwise normal existence.

I have a certain liking for natural/wild caught
"mini" Lepidoptera. They are unique and are
really not all that common an occurrence.
*This is in contrast to BRED material where
some "mini's" are produced inadvertently
in almost any breeding trial.
