Hello,
I have some Papilio from Vietnam
the top right is the Papilio alcmenor from the collection of Ting, Adam's deceased friend. The two on the left seem to be the same, I'm not at all sure about the copy on the bottom right. All butterflies are from Vietnam. Thanks for tips
Joachim

Hi Joachim,
The two on the left and the bottom right are all Papilio protenor euprotenor. The left ones are females and the bottom right is a male.

These are subspecies protenor, the type locality of euprotenor is Sikkim but many books incorrectly placed Indochinese specimens in that subspecies.
Adam.

Here are photos of a female P. alcmenor to show the difference from protenor. Female alcmenor is a Byasa mimic (note the black body): This specimen came from Koun Ngun, Hinboun District, E Laos, 14 May 2006: Adam.
