A few years ago I was "trolling" a local flea market on a given Sunday and happened upon a seller "hawking" these curiosities at his booth.
When I asked what they were he remarked that they were cigarette pack "premiums" and, that during the 1950's (and a measure of the 1960's); buying a pack of cigs in Japan or China (perhaps other places) would get you a token "gift" inside the pack.
The man had about 20 of these for sale with different themes. Some flowers, a few leps, and naturally a few animals. All are somehow printed on fine silk !
Out of maybe 8 "Lepi" premiums which he offered 4 were really quite good in their presentation. These are two of them and I have an additional Mourning Cloak & Arctiid moth which I also purchased that day.
