tv, thanks. What you suggest is beyond my budget at this time, but I like the method for use in the future. For now, I still have certain specimens in the ziplock as no time yet to sit down and transfer them to something more protective. I keep a humidity meter and silica gel in the bag along with critters. If humidity increase, out comes the silica and into the microwave for 3-6 min depending on how much used.
One thing I have discovered recently, and was a pleasant surprise, are specimens I have been keeping in small tupperware containers in the freezer. Some I've had in there for two years. I pulled one out recently to check pliability, expecting to have to relax first, but after 10 min of thawing it was nearly as moveable as when collected.

If specimens can’t be stored properly don’t set them.
