One and only Io moth this year and it seems to have an excessive darkening near the spots as shown. Never came across this before, is it common and natural or something artificial causing it?

One thing I really like abt large series of A. io is the variations and aberrations like this. Common....no, but surely worth appreciating. I have many such color variations, but none quite like this.
