I haven't used the ethyl acetate before for killing jar. I want to prepare one but I don't want to use plaster. If I use only paper towel to absorb the ethyl acetate, can it be usable for killing? Is there any disadvantage without plaster? Thanks in advance.

I used killing jars that had a compartment with some wool that would contain the ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate should not come in contact with the specimen as it is sticky and can rub off scales. You can use some paper towel at the bottom, but make sure to have enough dry paper towel to cover it so that the specimen don't get wet from the ethyl acetate. It is a very volatile compound.
