Well, I was wondering if I clicked on the wrong "favorites" on my list and was in the wrong forum. The big foot comment was amusing as well. I shouldn't continue, although I am reminded of something my exes would tell me about guys and trucks... I'm assuming bigfoot doesn't drive.

Greetings,
Okay, Leroy, you're a wise man-of-the-world so a youngster like me shouldn't offer advice. But hey - I do lots of things I shouldn't. Sounds like things are going good, but you're going to have to administer "The Test" to her at some point. We've all had to do it at some point, and sometimes they fail, and the ones that pass end up being stuck with us.
Take her on a "bug run" - have her help put bait in your traps and shoo out the unwanted hornets, show her a nice flapping moth up close in her face, stop and dig through some dog poo for dung beetles, take a leak in the woods, and then stop at Waffle House on the way home.
If after all this, she answers the phone the next time you call... she's a keeper!
Good luck! Bandrow

There will be no test, she is a very educated inteligent lady. She, like me, is a Widow. A drunk driver took her husband. She has a MBA and is employed by a Major Corporation.
We enjoy each other's company and that is as far as it will go.
This topic will go no further as well.

It's nice that your two paths have crossed, considering the losses you both have suffered. No matter what it is that interests you, having someone to do it with is always better...
Cheers! Bandrow

We have talked about the loss of our spouse's. Her spouse was well insured, she has funds to send her childern through college and beyond.
She has seen some of my collection. She is totally amazed. She will be joining me tomorrow morning when I recover my Light Traps.
AND, believe it of not, she has great taste just like me. She likes the Waffle House.

I went to church yesterday. After church I went to lunch with a group of people my age. The young lady who sat next to me was there with her mother. The mother was 58 and the daughter was 31. The daughter and I had plesent conversation. With out asking, she gave me a piece of paper with a telephone number. She has three children, all under 10 years of age. I am out of dimes.

A little up date: I know what some of you are thinking, and no, I have been sleeping alone.
After church yesterday I joined a group of friend's for lunch. Met a young lady who is divorced. No children and financially well off. I have listened to and heard many stories and tales of the broken hearted. Sometimes life can be very cruel. And many times men and women can be viscous. I walked away remembering how fortunate I was to have been married "once" and I was married almost 53 years.
After lunch I drove out to Presque Isle near Erie, Pennsylvania. Kicked off my shoes and walked the beach. There is a stone beach on the NE end of the island. I ate a couple of hot dogs at "The Diner". Found an interesting Noctuid moth on the wall of the diner. Walked back to my car, got a jar and collected the moth and two others that I found on the back of the building.
One is a Plusinae, Syngrapha rectangula. The others are an Erebidae, yet to be determined.
The sun set was spectacular.
We are meeting at a Waffle House near Painesville, Ohio for Breakfeast this AM. And She is old enough to know better.

WAFFLE HOUSE ?? Hmm.
back in the day Burt Reynolds was paid extra by the cigar industry to smoke a cigar in his movies to encourage sales.
Is this the same kind of thing ?
to encourage bug people ? Hmm...…….. if Leroy goes to Waffle House ; maybe I should too !!!!!!!!!

Waffle House has been a restaraunt that I first visited while living in Virginia in 1974. Actually, it was the first Waffle House to open it's doors in Virginia.
I also like Longhorns Steak House, Cattlemans Steak House and the absolute finest steakhouse is a "Stock Yards".
Ms Betty liked both Longhorns and Stock Yards.

You should email them back to see if it was intentional, sounds like their email may have been hacked and spam sent to all their contacts.
I got a similar email from my mother-in-law once, :0

Google "Swing Lifestyle".
And no, I have not met anyone from the Swingers Life Style. The more I thought about, the farther I get away from it.
Better known as well plowed ground.

Going down that road are we?......
I sent an email to my daughter last year. The following actually happened.........
The end of the email that I typed was: I wish you great happiness in the end.
Google spell check changed it to: (warning - maybe too graphic) "I wish you a great penis in the end."
Yeah - I sent that to my 27 year old daughter. At least she knew what happened and thought it was funny. It wasn't funny to her father.....

Did I do the right thing? We don't know Leroy. If you haven't figured out life by 75, what chance do ordinary folks like us stand?

Yeah - I sent that to my 27 year old daughter. At least she knew what happened and thought it was funny. It wasn't funny to her father..... Yeah, better still, talking trash about another man's 17 year old daughter with a diagnose - but that seem to be acceptable at least, for the purpose that it serves. Jan

Now I know I am going to hear about this. Yesterday I stopped by Office Max to pick up a special order. As I exited the store a young couple standing in the middle of the parking lot were having words. I put my phone to my ear, waited a few seconds and I said: "There is a young couple in the parking lot in front Office Max having a heated argument and I think it could get ugly." There was no doubt he heard me. He flipped me the "bird", uttered something to her and drove off. The young lady looked at me, turned away, got in her car and drove off. I few seconds later a police car came into the parking lot. I turned and went into the store. Did I do the right thing? Social life (or maybe the lack of it) venting on Insectnet I guess. The only channel of outreach. Did it change anything in the our lives? Probably not. Real question is - does anyone really care? I'm pretty sure not. Privileged people's real life problems.... Jan

I don't think it was a good idea, Leroy. Chivalrous perhaps, but not a good idea.
I've read in news, heard personal accounts, and 2nd hand accounts, of people getting involved in couple's issues, and it's never good. In one local case, an ethnic couple was throwing punches and two female bystanders sought to protect the embattled woman, only to have both of the combatants beat the heck out of them.
Personally, I came across a situation of an ethnic couple in throws of a fight, he had her by the shirt and was giving her a smack. Being a good Leroy, I stopped the car and shouted at him. Similar to the above, they quit their own fight, and turned attention to me. The female was yelling at me, and the male started threatening me and approaching my vehicle. I presented compelling evidence that his continued approach on my person would likely have a very bad outcome; when he stopped, I took off.
Screw 'em. If nobody is going to die, don't get involved. Call the police, they'll be there in an hour or so.

I'd respond by answering the question posed by Jan followed by a query as to what evidence or logic led to the assumptions made but Jan has historically appeared to then follow up without comprehending my meanings, words definitions, and then use vitriolic responses. I thought it was a cultural differences and then language barrier. I'd ask for clarifications but they never came. I couldn't pin why Jan always (to date) responded in the same manner until a former colleague of mine looked at one particular discussion and forwarded an article that made it easier to grasp the invective undertones. blogs.psychcentral.com/psychology-self/2019/08/narcissists-blame-projection/I'd prefer Jan just stop with the constant pot shots at me but at least now I have a better understanding why they won't stop and why direct questions on what Jan meant in earlier discussions will not get an answer. Although, I still hope change will come. Cheers, Tyson

Call the police, they'll be there in an hour or so. Agreed with those variables. Add to this for a logic exercise: 1. I'm off duty or retired code or law enforcement and face similar. .... 2. A child is involved 3, An animal is involved 4. Not in a public place I used to start a conversation with 'Hey guys, who's giving you grief...' when getting to a scene. Often defused the situation because it implied you are on their 'side' even when there were 2 sides. Impossible? Great Great grandfather used to say 'get two Chickasaw in a room and you'll have three opinions.' Cheers Tyson

I'm kind of a neophyte on that. I'll look at that. Thanks
More to the conversation:
I was at a theater with my daughter when a man approached me. I didn't recognize him. He said 'Do you remember me?' I said 'Sorry I do not.' He said 'You wrote me a ticket a few months ago....' I slowly pushed my daughter behind me to protect her. He finished with 'I just wanted to let you know that the advice you had for my dog really worked well. Thanks.' I'm so glad I was always civil to those I had to interact with as an officer. Civility without imperiousness works - most of the time. If only all with authority used this.

Personally, I came across a situation of an ethnic couple in throws of a fight, Sorry what does "ethnic couples" mean ? We all belong to an ethnie, I must be a mix between Celts and Germans. Sounds like a new political correctness term from the US.
