It's mid-May, and near Lake Ontario the trees should be fully leafed, with an average daily high about 68F/ 20C.
We had snow yesterday (again). And everything was frozen this morning.
The leaves have barely sprouted, the first sphinx of the year, D. inscriptum, is nowhere to be seen. Not even pieris rapae, usually seen first in late April, has appeared.
This is horrible. Thank you for listening to my complaint.
Paul, do you want to add anything?
Chuck

You are a horrible man! It s 44f 6c and raining. I was working in the yard for 30 minutes but it’s damp and miserable. I’d rather have sub freezing and snow. It. Feels. Like. Canada.

Visit the Oregon coast, the local saying, and I'm sure it applies elsewhere is " if you don't like the weather, wait a minute" Last week was brutal for the locals, in the low 80's, today, it's 54 and heavy showers. I've seen the pieris rapae, but they're in hiding now, there was a nice hatch of flying ants last week though... I set out the UV light a couple times and all that came were a couple shield bugs.
Wait- don't come here after all...

Cold?? I awoke this AM and found about an inch of snow on my car, house roof and the lawn and the top of the Bait Trap in my back yard.
This is the middle of May. What the f&$@@ gives.
Tomorrow will be a better day. I have been promised a home cooked meal tomorrow evening. My son is envious. She is 38. I will be 75 on 22 May 2020.

Pouring rain today here on the Oregon coast, personally, it's actually pretty typical for us, but my trees seem on track for leafing, about the weather in other areas... I'm probably going to regret this- perhaps that supports some arguments for climate change, if not global warming.

18w BL with a sheet last night. Low 55F. Got nothing good, small moths and Pyralids. Not even D inscripta. Maybe I should have used MV.
