Is there a reliable service to ship collections across country? Mounted in glass top drawers in cabinets.

Hello,
I would not send the darwer including butterflies. Just emptythe box and fill it with paper, plastics so that the glass wih be stabilized.
The butterflies send separately in a box wih many needles or relax them. All a question of how much all is worth.

I think eroralaeta wants to ship a whole collection "in glass topped drawers in cabinets", rather than a single box. I think that any decent removal company can do the job. It is important to put something between each drawer front and the next cabinet to ensure the drawers cannot move inside the cabinets. If the cabinets have doors that would mean putting something (foam, bubble plastic etc) between the door and the drawer fronts. Not only will drawers move when the vehicle brakes, but also when it accelerates away. Adam.

I have never done it before as I always move my collection by myself, but if one day I will be moving far enough to use the moving or shipping company I would also apply protective film to each glass top ( inside side ) just to protect the specimens below in case the glass shatters .

I had a moving company do my collection years ago. The drawers were placed back in the cabinets inside the moving truck. Everything was secured, and then driven ~ 400 miles. No problems at all with the process (although the drawers were all in the wrong order at the new house).

I have moved my collection fourteen times. Each time it would grow in size. I have 19 cabinets with a total of 502 Cornell Drawer. I maintain the collection with Paradichlorobenzene. I also keep my collection extremely. Between the Paradichlorobenzene and the very dry conditions, I am confident my collection is safe.
The movers always move my collection with the Cornell Drawers enclosed in the cabinets.

My buddy moved his collection from Washington state to NYS. It was moved by one of the big shipping companies with all his furnishings. They put a little extra padding around it, but nothing special. A few large species got loose, but the small amount of damage was amazing.
Note that this was in a semi, so the only real damage came from bridge joists (big bumps) which must have dislodged a few large specimens. There is no sign that the loose specimens then left a path of destruction, they pretty much they remained in place.
