This morning at 6:10AM, Ms Betty past away at the Hospice Care Center of the University of Kentucky Hospital. The funeral will be Friday & Saturday, 25/26 January in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Please do not respond to this thread. I am Okay. My faith in God will see me through.

Sorry Leroy, I'm responding. I held off 10 hours. You alone here have introduced your spouse and companion to such an extent. I know what she eats, where she eats, and God knows that I know what she puts up with. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

First and for most, I am okay. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who sent flowers or in leu of flowers made a donation to the Overland Church. Or sent a card , email or telephone call to express your sympathy to me at the death of wife, Ms Betty. And, all of those who prayed for me and my family. I was surprise at the out pouring from the Insectnet family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are a fantastic group of lady’s and gentlemen. This has been the most devastating event in my life. We were married for 53 years. Ms Betty was my friend, sidekick, confidant, lover and most of all my loving wife. She was the best of everything I could ever dream of or ask for. I cannot describe the loss I feel. However, my faith in God and my family will support me and see me through this most difficult time. I will not become a regular participant on the forum again until I feel comfortable with interactions with others. I will visit from time to time to see what is going on. Again, I truly appreciate each and everyone of you.

Leroy,
I respected your initial wish not to reply here, but felt your pain as I am sure everyone on Insectnet do.
Please take your time, and wait until you feel ready to start posting again. The only advice I can give is that you should try to do things, as the very action of being occupied will make you feel better.
Adam.

Thank you Adam. I was invited to have lunch yesterday with a group of friends from my Church, Buck Run Baptist Church, neighborhood and numerous friends from Georgetown and Scott County Kentucky.
All of them encouraged to become active and begin to do the things I enjoyed.
Upon my return home, I thought about Ms Betty and what she would want and expect me to do. I think she would have whispered in my ear: Go get among them!
I think I can do that!

Like Adam and Paul (and probably many others) I also respected your wish.
Do take some time, but I am looking forward to seeing your posts again. They’re always interesting and written with a lively humorous tone!
Wishing you all the best!

I will start posting again. Lepidoptera and related activities will keep me busy. I spent most of this afternoon working on my collection. I truly enjoyed my time. All I ask is that you keep to the subject at hand. Some of the Lithophane I spread today.

I think I am returning to my old form.
I went grocery shopping this AM. The list was not that lengthy. I bought all the needed ingredients for my third attempt at bean soup. The first attempt was not bad, but not even close to Ms Betty's. The second attempt was a disaster. My kitties scoffed at it. I think I have got it right this time. I will write more atfer I make it and then eat it.
Anywho, while at Kroger I was standing in the check out line when a rather classy looking little chickle popped a big old f**t. I mean a prize winner. A jumping Jim Dandy!!! She had them sucking air that would require space suites elsewhere.
Well I was not about to let her get clean away with that one. I began to sniff the air in a very noticeable manner and looking about when I exclaimed: whaoo, is there and open sewer line somewhere, whow, what a stench.
About half the folks in the checkout area began to react. I looked around (she was not looking at me!!) once again, exclaimed: Something has crawled up in somebody and died. A few seconds later I blurted out, I wish I could do that, I could rid the city of Cockroaches in a hurry, along with a few Democrats.
The little cutie got out of line, parked her cart and was heading for the door.
The guy behind me was laughing so hard I thought he was gonna piss his drawers.
It is great to be retired and full of a little mischief. And as she walked out the door she flipped me the bird.
I gotta come to Kroger more often and check the walls for moths.....

Ya know, I look at the photo of Betty, and I look at the photo of Leroy, and I wonder how that gent even got a second of attention.
Don't say it was "audible" that started the relationship. Please. Even if true, lie to me.

After graduating High School, I went to work for The White Motor Corp, making Class 6, 7 & 8 Trucks. I was stuck on the second shift. In mid-February I bid on a job in Engine Assembly on the first shift and won the bid. I had not been to church since going to work at The White Motor Corp. After my first week on the day shift, I went to church. I attended the Career Class in Sunday School and as I walked into the room, there stood Miss Betty with a bright Blue below the knee length dress. She was the most beautiful Woman I had ever seen. She looked at me and smiled. That was it. I was smitten. 4 April 1965 was date. We married on 14 August 1965. God blessed us and our marriage. And we were blest with two beautful son's.
We have lived together as one for almost 54 years. God called Ms Betty home on 19 January 2019.
I am Okay. I have friends and family and my faith in God. I am a blest man, but grateful.

I will be out of contact for most of this week. I will be traveling to Cleveland, Ohio to visit my older son and his family as well as a life long Lepidopterist friend. The object of the trip is to begin the process of returning home to the Greater Cleveland area. I have committed to remaining here in Kentucky until this coming fall. I need to sell my home and pack up my collection.(No easy chore) Betty and I have moved 17 times since we married. We have lived here in Kentucky the longest for over 18 years.
I cannot express my gratitude to all you during this difficult time. I have said this before and I will say it again, you are the greatest bunch of ladies and gentlemen I know.
Wish me luck on this endeavor and I will once again be swinging a net and checking my traps sooner than you think.

Thanks Leroy. There is a great group of people here, we help each other, right?
You've probably tapped out Kentucky anyway.

I’m sure Cleveland will have plenty of Walmart’s for you to get kicked out of! Wish you luck on your move to new Lepidoptera grounds!
