I was told it did not sell at the auction and was sold later to an undisclosed buyer...
There seem to be real Parnassius gems. Also quality of specimens is remarkable considered they are nearly 100 years old...

Out of all the boxes I probably took about 60 specimens, my son around another 40. This included a series of Colotis fausta.

You're really fortunate Yorky to have been able to cherrypick some specimens from that wonderful historic collection.
Was the collection all butterflies or did he also focus on moths as well ?
Those boxes were really packed. Did your friend try to separate things (a little) to avoid breakage ?

No when I viewed the boxes they were tightly packed as you see in the pictures. The collection consisted of entirely butterflies.

what does a collection of this stature sell for at auction ? i realize that this one didn't sell at auction; but what were they projecting as a selling price ?

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who can't seem to pin a column of specimens straight in a drawer or tray!
