I had a pretty good week in Venice, Florida. The highlight was more Anartia jatrophae than I could collect. I also caught my first zebra longwings(4) and a couple gulf fritillaries. I found a Cotinis nitida washing in the tide and a large black weevil. I found several Neocicada hieroglyphica and a stunning specimen of Campsomeris quadrimaculata. I could not manage to get a single sulphur of the many I saw zip past me. I caught one female Papilio troilus and my first Eurema daira. Others I saw were Danaus plexippus, Battus polydamas and Papilio Cresephontes. Phyciodes phaon was another first for me. I came across a caterpillar of Seirarctia echo which has since pupated. I also found several nice shark's teeth.
The downside of the trip was when I returned home I found than most of my caterpillars which I has sleeved had died from an unknown cause. This included my A. io, A. zephyria, A. louisiana and C. regalis among others. The strange thing is I still cannot see why they died. They were not eaten by a predator and they still had plenty of food.

Also stopped at the McGuire center for Lepidoptera and it was stunning.
