Looking at the weather reports for Green Valley and Nogales, it seems like the monnsoon rains are starting now.

My wife and I will be attending the Lep Soc Meeting in Tucson, AZ.
Because my wife is joining me, I will only have two light traps, several Bait Traps and some Pheromone Traps (for Sesidae moths). I will not have my light set up. I have collected in SE Arizona this time of year a number of times.
After the meeting we (My wife & I) will travel and do a little collecting in Northern Arizona.
However, we will visit Monument Valley NP and the Grand Canyon NP before turning for home.
Oh yes, I almost forgot. We are going to visit the "Four Corners". The only place in the USA where you can kiss your wife in Four States at the same time.

I returned to SE AZ from Sonora for the first time in three years and the monsoons are definitely in force. I haven't been out yet for the moths but noted that AB already has ova for sale in the classified and the moths were flying last year by 7/16, so it looks good so far. Weather here in southern AZ is beautiful right now with lows down to 68 in the desert, but if the sun is out it warms up fast. Hah!

My son and I have been out collecting the past 3 nights in SE Arizona. 2 nights in Harshaw and last night in Copper Canyon. The collecting has been very good, with the exception that most of the big Saturnids are not out yet.
Harshaw had lot of C. splendens and some A. oculea, A. patagoniensis and iris. Lots of Sphinx and 3 species of Sphingacampa. Copper Canyon was really good especially if you are a beetle enthusiast. Lots of Chrysina beyeri, gloriosa, & lecontei and many others. Also at least 12 species of Sphinx moths, lots of S. raspa and montana all very fresh. Plus as an added bonus we got 2 D. howardi.
I have 2 more collecting nights. Cottonwood Canyon tonight and possibly California Gulch Thursday night. Hoping to still find H. Gloveri and Pachysphinx occidentalis.

Yes, any trip reports/photos from this years' monsoon would be fun! I am sorry to miss a trip there this season and would love to hear of any trips you all may have made.

I am currently in Tucson, AZ attending the Annual Meeting of the Lepidopterist Society. I have only set out Light Traps once (So far). I set out two Light Traps in Pena Blanca Canyon along the Ruby Road. Below is a photograph of one of the Light Traps in the morning. It require an entire day to sort out the traps. I papered over 1500 moths. There were over seventy moths that were new to me. And many more that I have only one or two specimens in my collection. Tonight I will set out Light Traps at Wilcox Playa and Hoffman's Creek(I think that is the name).

Did a night in Madera but it was cool the night before. All 3 Chrysina and a Dysschema howardi
Anyone with reports for other areas

Looks like a great trip. Where did you have the best nights? Was cottonwood good?

Had good nights at Madera Canyon, Pena Blanca, and in the Chriricahuas, but Pena Blanca was the best. Had 16 species of sphingid and 8 Saturnid species at Prna Blanca, plus a whole lot more smalls. Got 4 Dysschema males. Attachments:
