Next spring I plan on blacklighting at state lands. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced fixture which utilizes either a rechargable battery or has a 12v adapter? I prefer to go this route by purchasing bulbs separately and use a home made trap to avoid paying the "entomologist markup" ( exorbitant prices) often seen on complete light fixtures with bulbs and/or light traps. Thanks, Ed bigedsbugs.tripod.com

You're right about the markup. I spent a lot on the bulbs because Leroy Koehn (leptraps) convinced me that the Quantum BL bulbs are superior (and he's right, of course). I couldn't find them anywhere else and ended up purchasing from him. To be honest, I'm happy to compensate him for all the research and experimentation he's done. I trust he marks up his products enough to continue his business. I found the batteries at BatteriesPlus, and the rest of the materials I purchased at the local hardware store. If you want a more detailed set of plans and pictures, just let me know. Or I could build you a few sets, though I doubt you'd want to pay the high markup. Travis
