Users are annoyed (and I can't blame them) at FOR SALE ads in the Insect Classifieds that actually redirect them to an auction site. I have received complaints. Therefore we have a new rule starting now to help everyone navigate more efficiently in the Classifieds: #3) Ads that redirect viewers to eBay are allowed, but they must use the header 'EBAY' in the Caption Header field so that viewers can more efficiently find the type of ad that they are looking for. Ads that point to other auctions eBay must use the caption header 'OTHER AUCTIONS'.Also, remember that there is a limit of 10 ads per day per user with a limit of 50 current ads per user. So please delete your old ones to make way for your new ones within the limit - or they may deleted by the admin. This has always been a rule from the beginning. Read more here: www.insectnet.com/guidelines.htmThank you for your cooperation! - Admin

#3) Ads that redirect viewers to eBay (or other auction sites) are allowed, but they must use the header 'AUCTION' in the Caption Header field (this includes 'Buy it Now' ads on auction sites). Failure to do so may result in your ad being deleted. a rule is a rule ok but ... For the problem of combined auction + buy it now, I can understand that the administrator's choice is for an auction. but a a "buy it now (only)" is a sale !

True, but allowing links to Buy it Now items without stating it is from an auction site leaves a loophole for posters to get around the main rule. Besides, many buyers don't want to be bothered with eBay or don't have an eBay account and this would also lead them where they don't want to go.

Perhaps it might be better to tell advertisers to put "eBay" in the subject line for both Auction or Buy it Now items they are selling on eBay, rather than "Auction" for both. That would warn people straight away that the advertised item is on eBay.

Let me investigate that. It might work.

Ok, I like Adam's suggestion, so I modified the Classifieds to include 'EBAY' as a selection for the caption header. I left the option for 'AUCTION' as well, for ads pointing to other auction sites. The way I have it worded the rule will automatically apply to 'Buy it Now' listings by default (tricky, eh?). The new rule reads: 3) Ads that redirect viewers to eBay are allowed, but they must use the header 'EBAY' in the Caption Header field so that viewers can more efficiently find the type of ad that are looking for. Ads that point to other auction sites must use the caption header 'AUCTION'.Here is the updated Rules & Guidelines page: www.insectnet.com/guidlines.htmNow I am in the process of going back over existing auction ads and correcting their caption headers for you all. This will take a little time. It is tedious. It only took me 15 years to finally get this straightened out. Thanks all for your suggestions.

As a user of the classifieds in all the possible methods, ebay advertising, seller or buyer, I think this new rule will improve a lot the efectiveness of the browsing, so I believe it's a good idea.

Regards Workin' on it... Once I get all the headers edited it will facilitate better filtering in the Advanced Search app, such as excluding all eBay ads or INCLUDING only eBay ads, etc. Please stand by...
