How many species are currently in the genus Siderone? What is currently accepted? Comstock says, only one with many forms,and Llamas says there are two species. The species galanthus superceeds marsthesia if one accepts the rules of taxonomy. This is a very confusing group, as everyone has their names for these butterflies. Thanks!

The latest revision by Dottax & Pierre (2009) makes nemesis a full species with 3 subspecies and galanthis the other species with 5 subspecies.
This does give nemesis a rather strange discontinuous range and makes the only place the distribution overlaps in central America.

A Revison on the genus is just published :
Dottax & Pierre, 2009 - Contribution à la révision du genre Siderone Hübner, 1823 (lepiodptera, Nymphalidae) - Bull. Soc. ent. Fr. 114(4): 401-408, 5 figs.
I don't know the genus but it sound interesting. 3 species recognised. Unfortunetely none reference to barcode results or any other genetic studies.

Not if there are leagal pdf files floating around. In the old days - you bought reprints of papers to distribute. Today - most publishers (like the Lepidopterists society) give the authers pdfs to distribute. That's what I'm looking for.
