Hi Starlightcriminal,
I've taken Dynastes in southern Ohio as late as August 15, and I took it in Valdosta, Georgia as late as August 28.
Cheers! Bandrow

I found the larvae down in Southern Illinois as late as December, of course hacking into dead logs. Jeff Prill

Just back from Florida.
Saw D. tityus in the Perry area, all live females and a flattened male. Nice S. antaeus also there, as well as in general area.

Used to catch Dynastes tityus in Malone, Fl and Cottonwood, Al at gas stations. Both of those locations are right on the Fl/Al state line, north of Panama City. Never any great numbers, but it certainly was not unusual to see them, along with the Strategus. Habitat was lots of Oak, Pine, Sassafras, Persimmon, etc. That area is the deep, DEEP south... so if you go, it wouldn't hurt to check in with the local county sheriff or town cops, as well as the folks working in the gas stations.
