Loads of common Ruteline coming in Anoplognathus smaragdinus and amongst these have been finding some nice colour vartiations and the odd rare treasure. I put a piece of roof guttering under the light to catch the odd uncommon Dynastid which can`t hang on the screen as well as other beetles. And to stop the pest introduced Cane Toads eating them before I can get to them. In the morning I empty the guttering and all the Ruteline ect fly away. Attachments:

Some people will steal anything that is not nailed to the floor. I was once having a display of framed insects for kids , turned my back and half a dozen live spiny leaf insects were stolen off a potted tree on the table .A member of the public said hey those kids just stole your insects .After yelling at them to bring them back as they were only just absconding with them , they sheepishly came back appologised and put them back on the tree . You have to be quick . Had they asked I would gladly have given them a couple.

Ctenomorpha gargantua phasmidae has recently emerged , maybe even the worlds largest insect. Check this link , http:www.abc.net.au/local/videos/2012/9/28/3600117.htm?site=farnorth

Never say die. Some great stuff on this forum . If people ### you , don`t give up stick it into them and maybe they will stop preaching crap/ nonsense . So like my old boy always says go with the flow , don`t make unnecessary waves , but sometimes its really hard nearly impossible to hold one`s tongue , but I`m learning and suppose getting wiser like the old boy maybe. But yes communication between different languages cultures are for sure misinterpreted quite often. Keep going and keep this forum alive is all I can add.

Nice pic Rev, But you should always be prepared for the unexpected when it comes to insects , too many times I have set off for a night search spotlighting and run out of containers , now I take a pillowcase full with me , even a short stroll in my rainforet I can fill them , often I go for a short walk and it ends up much longer than expected, as nature sings her marvelous song .

Hi Rev, Thanks for sharing your pic. Its always nice to see a mystery emerge. Good luck with future rearing. I usually keep aberrants in my coll , one of each , extra small , extra large odd colour form , poor colour form , makes a nice series after many years of collecting , breeding , rearing , you get to see all the available forms eventually. Cheers

Have a look at the Moths on Line site by CSIRO and you will most likely see it there.

You wouldn`t want to see a close up of these little crabs , small black , ho hum , , and they stink , amazing thing just before dark as they all lifted up from the grass to fly a lot of birds were swooping in and eating them , they must taste terrible.
