In the form of a video buy anshul fernando I was made aware these moths are not reared but taken from the wild. At the moment the only person trying to rear the white which is pedramariposa. He is fantastic Filmer of butterflies on YouTube. He trayed many trees and has had many larvae die in his attempt- so sad! He was able to make rare video of a fresh hatched caterpillar crawling very fast across a paper towel. From Anshul I learned about the White Which Moth Watch Organization that is trying to save this incredible moth. I hope more people in south America will try rearing it. Suspect host is cassia or senna, might be the host because the Black Which feeds on it.

On July 15 I went to Nysean Marks Park in Santa Cruz County California. While I was looking at something I Looked in the distance and about 15 feet away was a black hairy shape that looked like four legged animal. IT made a baby like noise and was gone in 2 seconds. Not a nuff time to even lift my binoculers to my eyes. Was not a bear cub, no bears live there. Was not a dog did not back at me. It did not have a tail. It's body hair tips were all uneven. I have seen many wild life shows and never seen an animal with uneven hair as it had. On YouTube channels baby bigfoots are simmalery discibed as running on all fours and being very fast. I hope you will forgive my miss spelling. See THINkERTHUNCK on YouTube if you still think Bigfoots are fake

My suggestion just do not comment on a thread if you are going to say something that might hurt someone's feelings. Jesus taught us to love one another, even an enemy. Treat others like how you want to be treated. Hopefully it is in a nice way. Even if someone believes in something crazy they should be treated respectfully in regards to what you say. Think before you type.

If you love Birdwing Butterflies there are some videos you may like on this Youtube channel: Anshul Fernando. He also has videos of some of his collection, live tarantulas, scorpions, and how to make repairs on pinned butterfly wings.

It is November 18, 2019. I was surprised to see a Marine Blue nectoring on some small white flowers on a bush in Safeway parking lot in Aptos, Santa Cruz County CA. So fun to see one of the Southern blues that sometimes strays north from Orange County. It was a beautiful blue male, very fresh looking. On Art Shepheros web page he said they sometimes breed out of normal range. But October is the latest month he has listed for northward straying Marine Blues.

I just would have told the police about the trash dumped. I would have given the police the address in the trash and they may have decided to give the owner of the trash a fine for polluting. Sometimes rich folks do not care obviously about polluting the earth they live on and harming wildlife that comes in contact with the trash. Some folks just lose their consciousness of what is right and what is wrong. Hope you get some neat critters in your trap.

Leptraps I was referring to the last 2 sentences of your May 30, 2019 post. What you claimed of me is indeed fowl and not nice. I have been looking at videos on Youtube about insects and Bigfoot. I find it interesting how some live free flight butterfly exhibits do not want the butterflies touched and others encourage contact with the butterflies. One butterfly house gave a small container with a fresh hatched butterfly to release to visitors. The visitor that was making the video loved this. Another butterfly house kept the hatched butterflies in a dark box and when ready for release shook the netting they held onto scaring the poor butterflies to death. Most butterfly houses had signs not to touch the butterflies. I found a video of a person filming his two little girls petting the wings of a Rajah Brooks Birdwing Butterfly in a butterfly house. This butterfly was quite relaxed, not panicking and no harm come to it from these two girls petting it. I guarantee those girls will never forget such an awesome experience of a lifetime being able to touch a live birdwing butterfly. When I was a little girl I was allowed to touch a tiger and have never forgotten that. When visitors go to zoos or butterfly houses it is very important that they have close contact with some of the wild life. A study was done that proved close contact helped make that person more sensitive and caring about wildlife. Concerning Bigfoot I am still waiting for the time Jesus chooses to have me meet the Bigfoots.

Leptraps Really? Did you get yourself into some filthy things? Saying I am doing some unspeakable things! Shame on you Leptraps! I never said an exact date about meeting Bigfoot. I am not sure when I will meet them. All I know is this will definitely happen. No new news to report yet. I am still waiting for Jesus to decide when this meeting will happen. When things happen I will start a new thread with a different title but about Bigfoot. Hope this clears all the confusion up.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well. Been looking at youtube for a while. Found some great insect related channels:
Butterflies and moths -- Pedromariposa - Leps of Yungas, Bolivia; Bart Coppens - rases moths and butterflies from around the world, he works as a curator of insects at a museum; Richard Paxon - he photographs moths and has videos of the moths and some huge beetles sitting on his sheet in a foreign country, Mothologist - American moths
Praying Mantids and a few other insects - Insecthaus TV - videos of lots of different mantids that he keeps as pets, also some other insects
Beetles - Beetle Breeding Daniel Ambuehi - If you are nuts about beetles you will love his channel
If you have some good channels feel free to share them here.

Some years ago went to Arizona just after monsoon time. Pinablonka had lots of neat looking medium/small moths, hawk moths, some springacampa, a few Ecles oslary and a few big ground beetles. Watch out for the giant centipedes at night! I heard their bite can cause extreme pain and temporary blindness. Had good butterfly finds near the camping area. Look for the wild flowers and the butterflies will be there. We did not go to the lake but that mite be another good spot for butterflies. Good luck on your trip!

See on YouTube on James Munder channel video titled self destructing moth be released... This is scary folks! The Moths that eat cabbage are made to die early be for they can reproduce. What if people accidently eat a small larva on a leaf not washed well enough? Could the gene be transferred to humans? I sure hope not! Just wanted to make this known to every one.

I went back to the park on 5/27. Only saw two Buckeye Butterflies. Still no Common Checkered Skippers. There should be a few Blues and some Fiery Skippers by now, but none. The host plant for Cabbage Whites is all over but no Butterflies seen. No California Ringlets either. Always see a few at this park. No Painted Ladies - all three species are absent. No dragon flies seen either. There always a few flying around the grass field in past years all the time. Found video that explains what mite be happening in some parts of the world. On the adapt 2030 channel on YouTube the video is called increased UVB effecting insect sight, pollinators disappearing. This may explain whey there are les butterflies in my area. Insects are the bottom of the food chain on land. Once they start disappearing all creatures will be affected. It looks like this is starting.

Well Clark I think you are rite. I just saw some butterflies at a park I visit. They must just be coming out now, a bit late. I saw a faded Buckeye, a fresh Variable Checkerspot, and a Cabbage White. I also saw another white butterfly and as I got closer was shocked to see my first Large Marble ever. Wow what a treat! It was a female laying eggs on mustard on the flower bud bundles that were just starting to open. The lower haves of her wings above were tinged with pale yellow - so beautiful. I was surprised to see she was almost as big as a Cabbage White. I always imagined them as being smaller.

Any one else been experiencing less butterflies than normal? Many places are hot for a week or two then cold for a week or two then back to hot. This is having a negative affect on Butterflies in my area. Since April only seen a few Cabbage Whites, one Umber Skipper, two Tiger Swallowtails and no Checkerspots that should be active this month - May. Checkered Skippers that should have been out and flying at the County park this time of year are not there. Your Thoughts?
