The Rainbow Stag Beetle (Phalacrognathus muelleri) is easily one of THE most recognizable lucanid species --- next to say Lucanus cervus. The species is found in northern Queensland Australia and New Guinea. It is the only species in its genus, Phalacrognathus, which is closely related to the genus Lamprima. The species is divided into the following 2 subspecies: Phalacrognathus muelleri muelleri (Queensland, Australia) Phalacrognathus muelleri fuscomicans (New Guinea) Never actually confirmed as coming from New Guinea. It's an endemic, uniquely Australian species.

I believe the Australian V. cardui is the nicest with specimens often having blue circular markings in the center of the hindwing spots. I'll see if i can dig up a specimen to show. Isn’t that Vanessa kershawi you are taking about? Oops! Perhaps I'll just stick to beetles. Ok, i used to regard this as a subspecies of cardui and infact, i think some still do...

Sorry, follow-up. This might just be debris and/or something non-insect related, but figured I’d post that I woke up this morning and found this on my bed? imgur.com/a/YGu764yCloseup: imgur.com/a/vRV0LWeIt’s about the size of a dime and kind of has the consistency of like a very funky, gigantic ear-wax. Sorry if this ends up being out of the purview of this site, but I’ve admittedly been frazzled by everything. Thanks! Thats tex book covid-19

That is a Weevil, not a beetle. They can do harm to plants in large numbers, large being a lot...like multiple dozens or hundreds. It depends on the species as well. I'm not sure what that one is exactly. Not in everyone accepts this. Plenty of people accept weevils as Beetles. A case could be made Cetonidae are more different still, therefore not beetles and in a group of their own.

No, it's not a cockroach, it seems to be a Hemipteran bug, maybe family Reduviidae, but I am not an expert in these or most other insects for that matter except one family of butterflies. Adam. Undoubtedly right Adam I can't see the picture tho
