That is exactly what I meant Alejandro, CITES is a joke, everyone knows that and you are right, it has been talked about many times on here. Personally I am not bothered by folks sending bugs out of Mexico, Brazil or anywhere else, the non-collecting laws are just a PR stunt anyway. Dave

I guess so Wolf, I should have checked on CITES website. So why is it not on there when it has such a limited distribution, like chikae, hospiton or alexandrae? Shows what a heap of crap Cites is I suppose. I also guess stuff will be illegally collected and sold no matter what. The Mexicans want to do what the Brazilians do, nothing comes from there any more so they must be policing it properly! Dave

Ah, that would explain it then. So what is all this 'Exalt' and 'Smite' all about ? And the 'Karma'?

I see someone is selling a 'fresh female' of Baronia brevicornis on ebay, Insectnet Classifieds ad. no 38393. I thought that this species was a) CITES and b) protected in Mexico. I also thought all collecting was banned in Mexico. If this is so how can specimens still be coming from there? Dave

Not too well there mate, but I have sold a lot since by word of mouth. I intend to do some of the 'Craft fairs' here this year, hopefully they will go down well there. See you on Facebook!

Simon, that was really sad mate, I am sorry for your loss. Just be assured that you gave her a wonderful loving home for the rest of her life, nobody could do any more. I only ever had one dog, from when I was in my early teens. He lived to a good age but when he died it was so traumatic I vowed never again, I don't think I could handle that kind of pain again. We now have cats but all are from rescue centres. They are usually adults so don't have too many years with us but they are cared for and loved during the time they spend with us. Dave

It is not a mantis but a harmless prickly stick insect. I used to rear those here in England, they only eat leaves. Something else must have taken the caterpillars, birds perhaps? Dave

I only sell at fairs. As my cases are glazed with Picture Glass it would cost a fortune to ship them as the packing would drive the weight and size way up. Are you on Facebook? There are photos of my cases on an album there. Someone did upload the album to Insectnet but that is in the archives now. IMHO the two most useful things tool wise are a mitre saw and a router. The cases my brother makes are glued together with PVA wood glue, clamped overnight they are as strong as any other. The backs are hardboard held with 6 small screws which allows me to put the bugs in and the glass is held in place with silicone rubber bathroom sealant. The whole thing is pretty airtight when all screwed together, keeps undesirable bugs out! Dave

It looks too small for that Jean Marc, judging by the threads on the towelling. Maybe a Hydrophila? Dave
