I'm an Orthoptera collector and absolutely fascinated about ARMOURED GROUND CRICKETS. I do not know a lot about the climate and seasons in South Africa, but I would like to ask if someone can provide me with dead, dried specimens of the mentioned crickets. I am looking for these interesting and uncommon creatures to enrich my orthoptera collection. I am grateful for any help to find other collectors, dealers or hunters for "Koringkrieks / Dikpense" who can provide me with good quality specimens. Thankyou, Michael (francisento) Attachments:

I would appreciate any help to try to determine this Scarabeinae, is it a Heliocopris or Catharsius sp.? Maybe Heliocpris alatus/hamadryas (minor), or biimpressus/faunus? Thankyou in advance! -- I am sorry I don't have better pictures -- Origin: Kenya Size: 32mm Attachments:

Can anybody provide me with positive references about trading with Mr. Muhammad Akhter from Karachi, Pakistan? I think there was a thread about him in the old forum and he even put up insects in the insectnet Auctions. Thankyou Malik

Colin R. Owen has a great website on african beetles and also has a famous collection I heard. On the website beetlesofafrica.com/ he offers duplicates for sale. I contacted him twice in the past year but never got a reply. Does somebody know how to get hold of Mr Owen? Thankyou for any helpful suggestions. Malik

Well Folks, I didn't expect this question would cause such a debate!... The discussion has now nearly reached the level of solicitor's discussion and has become complicated indeed.
Besides Cerambyx cerdo there are other species such as Lucanus cervus regularly offered by european ebay-sellers or put up for sale even on numerous european insect-trading websites. Both mentioned species are strictly protected in the EU, so how is it legal to buy, catch or sell such species?
I live in Switzerland, but I see with Switzerland there isn't any "x" occuring in the list?!?

Cerambyx cerdo can be seen regularly on Ebay-auctions. Is it legal to sell and buy this species? It is listed on the IUCN Red List in the category "vulnerable". Thanks for any advice.
