Hello all,
I have a Papilio paris which might be a gynandromorph. Unfortunately its quality is A2 or even worse. The head is somewhere.....
But, both hindwings are different and also the forewing ( one f.w. was difficult to weaken and I spread it again but the result was not better, I didnĀ“t want to make more damages on it) seem not equal. What is your opinion?
best wishes Joachim

Can you post a picture where you encircle the female areas?

I dont really see female traits in your specimen. it seems like it is just a male with a shriveled hind wing. This is a description (from wikepedia) of diferences between males and females.
Similar to the male but somewhat paler and duller. Upperside of the forewing has the green postdiscal band shorter and more incomplete than in the male. Hindwing with the upper discal patch smaller, often green and not blue, the red subterminal lunule in interspace 7 is always present and more prominent than in the male.
Underside of wings similar to that in the male, but the tornal and subtornal markings generally formed into more or less complete eyespots.
I hope this can help you to come to your own conclusion. Ed

There are indeed no female parts of this specimen. It is just a deformed male, not a gynandromorph.
Adam.
