Recently, one of my eclosed male A. zephyria moths failed to pump up its wings for expansion and just wattled around the cage floor. Instead of just tossing him, I mounted him as though he were in the act of emerging from his cocoon. It kind of looks interesting in the drawer of zephyrias.......adds a different perspective. Had to tuck him partially back into the cocoon and make his legs look as though he were just crawling out. Thought a few of you might like the idea.....I know Tom and Eric would. Sorry abt the pic.......it's not the best.

Hey, I do the same thing! I have a polyphemus that could not emerge from its pupa so I have it pinned as you have.

Tim,
When u get the chance, post a pic. I love these unusual mountings. I've done the same w beetles coming out of pupal cases too.

I give educational presentations at schools and such. I used my similar specimen in a life cycle display to show what it looks like eclosing.
