Hi does, anyone here have the permit that allows you to carry queen ants across state lines or any insect that can't be legally carried over state lines, which is illegal without it. Has anyone here tired to get this permit or have it? I know it s very difficult.

You probably need a generic APHIS PPQ 526 plant pest permit. This involves setting up an account at USDA, and then following a lot of directions. Step one is setting up an account which is done here - identitymanager.eems.usda.gov/registration/selfRegistrationForm.aspx?level=2You will also have to have permits in place from all states that you will pass through (otherwise you won't get the APHIS permit). Here in Indiana, I contacted our state entomologist to get the forms for application. It's not that hard - I did last year for one species of butterfly across one state line. John |

Permits you need for carry alive insects only? Or for dead, or for all insects? You can not move your collections from one state to another (inside USA) without permits!?

I have moved 21 times during our 51 years of marriage. I have move from Ohio to Virginia, Virginia to Ohio, Ohio to Florida, Florida to Ohio, Ohio to Mississippi, Mississippi to Florida, Florida to Kentucky, Kentucky to North Carolina, North Carolina to Illinois, Illinois to Kentucky, not one time did I ever get a permit to move my collection. When I moved to Kentucky, I inquired about a permit to move my collection of dead insects, I was told by US Dept of Ag., and the moving company that non are required.
Moving live insects between states require a permit.

I stopped a few this fall. I detained them for flying without a license.

Only humans moving insect over state lines need permits. The bugs can just wing it!

I rescued failing manufacturing company's for a living. Several more than once. They paid to move me, which included my collection. I got to see the country and enjoyed collecting in all of these locations.
When I retired in 2008, we returned to Kentucky. My wife is a Kentucky native. She was born in Salt Gum, Knox County. Three of her sister's still live here in Kentucky.
Only in Kentucky does the Moon comes over the mountains in gallon jugs.
Red Necks, White Socks and PBR..YEEHAW...
And lot's Waffle House's.
