This is way off topic, but Adam's comments made me think of it:
My second time in Solomons I thought I was pretty smart. This time, I brought a whole bunch of glossy blue metallized gift wrap that is the same color as Ulysses. I figured it would be the way to bait those high flying buggers, then I could sell the stuff off in sections and make a fortune.
Unfortunately, the Ulysses didn't care a bit about my fine blue metallic foil. They kept flying high, fighting, etc.
Then one day we noticed a male Ulysses dive bombing a faded blue beer can flattened on the trail. Keep in mind, this was really faded- nowhere near the bright blue of a Ulysses. So, for a joke, we picked up the can and stuck it into the hatband of one of the locals walking with us. Joke was on us- he was repeatedly attacked by Ulysses all down the trail.
When I left I gave my useless blue foil to the hotel staff.

Go to your local garden center and buy some of those flower shaped pinwheels that they sell for garden decorations. You can tape on whatever color or colors of paper or cloth to them then put them out when you are collecting. The motion along with the colors bring in specimens of many species. Easy to change colors quickly if one is not working. Alternating brown and white can bring in male Morpho species, bright red brings in Heliconius egeria and so on. Works great in some areas.
