Sorry my mistake.This is all new to me and my son Paul is showing me the ropes. This is 80 acres , of rare they call it , lowland mesophyll vine forest 10km nth of Innisfail.

This is a stunning opal /pink form of the Anoplostethus laetus which is normally green. I may be getting the hang of this now Attachments:

Another north Qld Christmas beetle Anoplognathus smaragdinus normally green , one in several hundred is red. Attachments:

Another of my favourite specimens . Anoplognathus smargdinus blue form you can see about one of these out of every 2,000 normal green forms , I catch about one every couple of years. Attachments:

OK another one for the Lepidoptereists so they don`t feel left out There have been a lot of Ornithoptera around this season , these pics were taken over the last few weeks , my Aristolochia vines have been chewed right back to ground level by the larva , nice to see these giants fluttering around at head height. I never tire of there almost slow motion fight around the garden.Here they feed on Xora. Attachments:

Another pic of the gentle giants as they flutter around the blossom , the males are in hot pursuit of the females. OK better get back to the favorites the beetles. Attachments:

On the way to more beetle pics I found a couple more butterfly pics , just for the Lepidopterists I though I`d show these fav spms. During my butterfly breeding days I had Papilio fuscus and P.ambrax flying together in my shadehouse .One day I noticed some strange larva growing on my potted citrus trees in the shadehouse and these are the result , Hybrid beteen the two species . Breeding butterflies for the pupa trade every now and then something strange comes out . Intersex Papilio aegeus form beatrix intersex. Attachments:

One week my wife Sue released approx 200 freshly emerged Hypolimnas into the shade house. When I went in to feed them one morning I was surprised to see this Gynandro sitting on a leaf , so I quickly netted it . Attachments:

Another of my favorite beetles although only occasionally attracted to my light , this female Rosenbergia was found by my son feeding on an exotic fruit tree in my garden the Jackfruit , they seem to like plants with milky sap to feed on like the Batocera. Attachments:
